Course 1: OSINT Investigation

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) sponsored program “Innovative ICAC (Internet Crime Against Children) investigation training on IoT, OSINT, dark web, and crypto” aims to train state and local law enforcement agencies in new techniques to combat cybercrime, online child abuse, and sex trafficking. The program will introduce new dimensions in IoT forensics and cryptocurrency tracking investigation techniques and prepare law enforcement agencies to identify evidence of dark web dissemination of child sexual abuse material through cryptocurrency transactions.

This course, "Basic OSINT," covers essential skills to conduct successful investigations involving social media, data brokers, and open-source information from internet basics such as IP addresses and domains to the latest social media platforms. The instructors will deliver hands-on training and expert guidance.

Throughout the course, you will gain a broad understanding of human trafficking, its defining elements, and the various stages of the intelligence cycle. You will also learn about open-source intelligence sources and their uses, the definition and historical details of OSINT, the two methods of OSINT use, and an overview of geospatial intelligence analysis.
